Weston Park Cancer Charity Bike Ride 2016
Article Published : 03 October 2016
We, once again, became fully involved in the Weston Park Cancer Charity (WPCC) appeal in partnership with Ask4 and a range of other local companies.
Our aim was to raise as much money as possible for our local cancer hospital and improve patient welfare. This year’s challenge was a long distance cycle from Edinburgh to Sheffield over four days. This was nearly 400 miles and 40,000ft of climbing across the Scottish Borders, the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and Peak District!
Leading up to the event, Year 10 students designed the cycling/event kit from initial idea to manufacture. Students took part in a myriad of fund-raising competitions and a non-uniform day. Two staff (Mr French and Mr Brown) took part in the actual cycle ride.
Thanks to everyone’s kind and generous contributions and involvement, Hinde House 3-16 School raised £2,313.93 towards the grand total of nearly £20,000.
We recently received a letter from Darren Hayes (WPCC Business Development Manager) which said;
“On behalf of Weston Park Cancer Charity I would like to thank you all at Hinde House School for raising an incredible £2,313.93 towards the 2016 ‘4Challenge’. Your support throughout this year’s challenge has been invaluable and I hope you have all enjoyed being involved in such a fantastic challenge.
The work done in designing this year’s kit for the riders was a huge success and I would personally like to thank all the children who took part in the competition.
Over the past 22 years, thanks to people like you, Weston Park Cancer Charity has made a huge difference to the comfort and care of local cancer patients and has made significant contributions to the international fight against cancer.”
We hope to be involved again next year and to continue our support for this very worthwhile cause.
